Our Environmental Commitments
Being a good neighbor means protecting the natural resources that make Florence special. We believe innovation and environmental stewardship should always go hand in hand.
The project is designed to reduce water use, preserve natural buffers, protect wildlife habitat, reduce light and noise, and explore opportunities to reuse excess heat for future community applications.
Your Electricity Bill — Not Affected
The Florence Technology Park operates on a private, direct power agreement with the regional utility. Your residential or business electricity rates are set by your provider — this facility does not change them.
Water: Self-Contained, Closed-Loop Cooling System
Our cooling system is entirely self-contained. The same water recirculates continuously within a closed loop — it is not discharged into local waterways, does not drain local aquifers, and does not compete with residential or agricultural water needs. Total facility water consumption — used by employees in restrooms and kitchens — is equivalent to approximately 5–7 homes. We will utilize on-site wells and grey water for landscape irrigation.
Noise: Same Level as a Conversation
At the property boundary, operational noise from our facility measures approximately 50–55 decibels — the same as a normal conversation. We are not a factory or a manufacturing plant. Once operational, neighbors should not be able to hear the facility from inside their homes.
Energy Efficiency
Our facility is designed for the most efficient in the industry. Less wasted energy means less environmental impact.
Tennessee River & Local Waterways
The current site concepts are designed to protect local waterways. Natural buffers and responsible stormwater management prevent any runoff from impacting the Tennessee River and surrounding waterways during construction and operations.
Site Perimeter — Enhanced Tree Line
The existing tree line along the site perimeter will be preserved and enhanced as part of the project. Additional plantings will strengthen the natural buffer between the campus and neighboring properties.
